We hope you all had a lovely summer break and it is great to welcome your children back to school. Year 5 are settling in well and have made a good start to the new term. In English, we are looking at Greek myths as this links with our topic this term relating to the Ancient Greeks. Mythical beasts play a big part in our descriptive writing.
Later in the term, we shall be reading The Wreck of the Zanzibar by Michael Morpurgo a story about a young girl called Laura and her grandmother who save a leatherback turtle. We shall be writing diary entries in role and find out more about leatherback turtles.
In maths, we follow the Whiterose scheme and will be revising place value, negative numbers, four operations, measurement, perimeter and area, this term.
By now, you should all have information about our residential trip next year to Danbury. The dates for this are: Wednesday 11th May to Friday 13th May, 2022. Further details will follow nearer the time.
Your children have been given homework books and new homework is given out on a Thursday to be handed in the following Tuesday. Spellings and maths will be in the books.
