P.S.H.E Curriculum Intent

The intent of our PSHE curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and ensures that each of our pupils will know more, remember more and understand more about how to play a positive and successful role within our society, both as a child and as an adult. Our aim is to provide pupils with a knowledge of their world, locally, nationally and globally and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We aim to provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society, which is underpinned by an understanding of British Values.  Moreover, our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. This will allow them to make sense of their experiences, value themselves, respect others, appreciate differences and feel confident and informed as a British Citizen.

SCARF Approach

At Kelvedon Hatch, we follow the SCARF scheme of work, which supports complete coverage and progression for all aspects of P.S.H.E. We also make use of the assemblies provided by SCARF to introduce new topics each half-term with a whole school focus.
